The author returns to the plot of his hometown of Jerusalem in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover that the townspeople are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. By Gary Dauberman in 2019 told Den of Geek magazine in June of his goal. He wants to get away from the sexier, more romanticized undead that have infected pop culture over the past quarter-century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Sunset to The Vampire Diaries.
The slow burn makes the book a masterpiece
As Ben reads old newspapers on microfilm in the library, the headline reads “Local Couple Victims of DUI.” The paper is believed to have been printed in 1956, at a time when the term “DUI” was not yet in use.. It’s all gone
A love affair started. Vignettes of strange things happening in the city. In the end, a gang of misfit heroes come together to come together in perfect king fashion.
The pace is largely inconsistent
Characters jump to conclusions (always appropriate) without thinking anything through. It’s hard to love any of the characters because they all lack the depth needed to move the story forward. There are some truly wonderful moments and little sparks of genius here.
But unfortunately, this adaptation is broken
